Her married name at the time was Wolahan, a corruption of Woolaton or Woolton, etc. The various spellings of Wolohan, Woolaghan etc. was common place at that time. The family were of Cromwellian descent who settled in Wicklow County (Enniskerry). My mother was Emmie MaryWillis (nee Wolahan). My father was Thomas Henry Willis. The verse stitched on the sampler may be adapted from Isaac Watts (1674-1748) poem, There is a Land of PureDelight. Let us hope and pray that during the lives of men peace may reign on earth as it does in heaven.
