MS 1752 by The Scarlet Letter
This mid-eighteenth-century Scottish band sampler features many classic seventeenth-century patterns, executed in cross, eyelet, double running, counted satin, back, and queen stitches.
The virtually unfaded color was reproduced from the front of the sampler. Six pattern bands precede five rows of illuminated alphabets. The lower quarter consists of familial initials, crowns, numerals, a crowned and formally dressed gentleman and the date 1752.
Stitched on 35-count linen, the finished reproduction sampler will measure approximately 9-1/2″ x 20″. It is recommended for intermediate-level needle workers.
