Engravers Chart by Hello from Liz Matthews

$20.00Price

Within this chart you have 10 full alphabets and 2 number sets- each one stitched in a different font! Also included are a handful of sweet motifs that can all be used to create your own fun designs. This pattern was intended not only to be stitched as shown in the model, but also to be a helpful tool for customizing your own creations!

The Engravers Chart was stitched on 40 count Stars Hollow linen from R & R Reproductions using one strand of Gloriana “Coffee Bean” silk thread over two threads of linen. Alternatively, DMC 3371 could be used. It is worked entirely in cross stitches.

To finish as a hanging chart: Both sides were left raw and slightly frayed, but sewn with thread to match the linen to prohibit fraying beyond the desired point.  The top and the bottom were attached to old wooden strips with a combination of staples and glue to create a “school chart” look. Small metal hooks were screwed into the top piece of wood and twine was use to hang the chart from the wall. Please note: Easy to use, pre-assemble poster frames can be purchased online by doing a quick search for “wood poster frame hanger”. They are usually magnetic and very easy to assemble!

Helpful hints: While stitching, I carrying quite a bit of my thread moving from letter to letter. The oversized piece of linen was bulky to work with, and by carrying my thread I was able to work more quickly and happily. Once finished, I backed this piece with dark fabric, making all the carried threads disappear! It’s not a method everyone will like, but it worked for me! I did require two skeins of thread to stitch this model, probably due to the carrying. R & R Linen was particularly great for this project because the thick weave of this linen was ideal for replicating the vintage “chart” look!
